Our travel examples are inspirations. We would be pleased to prepare a detailed, personal travel offer according to your wishes.

Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli National Park

Drive from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park. The national park is not only known for its great wildlife, but also for its breathtaking views of Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. Here you have therefore the opportunity to take a photo with elephants, lions, zebras and giraffes in front of the amazing scenery of Africa's most famous mountain.

Please note: Depending on your arrival time, one overnight stay on arrival in Nairobi must be included.

Accommodation: 2 nights Kibo Safari Camp including full board and water during the game drives

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

The whole day is available for extensive game drives in the national park.

It is best to start your safari early in the morning, when Kilimanjaro is most likely to be unclouded and in its most beautiful splendour. There is also a good chance that you will see predators such as leopards, lions and cheetahs hunting in the cooler morning air.

Overnight: Kibo Safari Camp including full board and water during the game drives

Day 3: Amboseli National Park - Ol Pajeta Conservancy

After breakfast drive from Amboseli to Ol Pajeta Conservancy, sometimes called Sweet Waters.
Your drive will not only take you through busy Nairobi and then back through the beautiful farming country of Kiyuku, but will also take you to the foothills of Mt Kenya, the highest mountain in Kenya and second highest in Africa.
When you arrive in Ol Pajeta, visit the park's famous chimpanzee sanctuary to meet its adopted inhabitants. Afterwards you will go on an evening game drive in the park.

Overnight: 1 night Sweetwaters Tented Camp including full board and water during the game drives

Day 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast you drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. The heart of the park is Lake Nakuru.
The park is home to millions of bright pink flamingos and is an ornithologist's dream. Another 400 bird species call the park home. The park is also home to elephants, black and white rhinos, hippos, lions, leopards and more. After arrival game drive in the park.

Overnight: 1 night Flamingo Hill Tented Camp in the National Park including full board and water during the game drives

Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara

After breakfast you leave Lake Nakuru and drive south to Kenya's most famous park, the Masai Mara.
You will pass the famous Great Rift Valley on your way as well as the Masai city of Narok. In the afternoon you will go on your first game drive and search for lions, tree-climbing leopards, majestic elephants and much more.

Overnight: 3 nights Mara Sopa Lodge / Mara Leisure Camp including full board and water during the game drives
(Note: As the Maasai Mara is a very large area, we select the accommodation according to your travel time and the most suitable location)

Day 6 - Day 7: Maasai Mara

Two full days are available for extensive game drives in the Maasai Mara.

The highlight of this eight day safari is undoubtedly the opportunity to experience live the world famous wildebeest migration, between the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti, of more than 1.7 million wildebeest and about 200,00 zebras (seasonal from about July / August - October). Every year the whole herd has to make the treacherous crossing of the Mara River, where they have to struggle not only with strong currents but also with the ever hungry Nile crocodiles. It takes a lot of patience and more than a little luck to experience this natural spectacle. If you are lucky, this is an unforgettable experience.

However, the world famous Maasai Mara is not only the scene of the gnumigration but also home to the Big Five.

Overnight: Mara Sopa Lodge / Mara Leisure Camp including full board and water during the game drives

Maasai Mara: Mara Sopa Camp

Situated high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, one reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these extend along the line of the hill with the impressively large public buildings and the swimming pool in their centre.

Entry requirements Kenya

To enter Kenya, German and Luxembourg tourists require a visa and a passport valid for at least six months beyond their stay. The visa fee is USD 51. Children under 16 years of age do not need a visa if they are travelling with their parents.  For trips that involve leaving and re-entering yKenia, a "multi-entry" visa is required.
A return or onward ticket is required.

Visas can be applied for at the Kenyan embassies and since 01.07.2015 also online http://ecitizen.go.ke. In addition, visas will continue to be issued at the official border stations, e.g. at the airports of Nairobi and Mombasa.

A valid yellow fever vaccination carried out by a certified yellow fever vaccination centre is required for all travellers older than 1 year when entering Kenya from a yellow fever area.

Entry requirements may change at short notice without prior notice. Legally binding information and/or information on entry requirements that goes beyond this information can only be obtained directly from the embassy or one of the consulates general of your destination country.

Medical preparation Kenya

The coastal areas of Kenya and the area around Lake Victoria in the west of the country are particularly at risk of malaria. In the capital Nairobi and the provinces of Central, Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Western, which are located at more than 2,500 m above sea level, the risk of contracting malaria is relatively low. However, malaria prophylaxis is recommended in any case and regardless of the region visited. In addition to the usual basic immunisation (tetanus, diphtheria, polio), hepatitis A and typhoid fever are recommended as travel vaccinations.
A valid vaccination against yellow fever carried out by a certified yellow fever vaccination centre is required for all travellers older than 1 year when entering the country from a yellow fever region. A booster after 10 years is no longer required by the Kenyan authorities. For entry from non-yellow fever areas (e.g. Europe) or transit time of less than 12 hours at the airport of a yellow fever endemic area (e.g. Ethiopia), proof of vaccination is not compulsory but is recommended for travel within the country.

Before travelling, seek personal advice from a tropical medicine counsellor/physician and adjust your vaccination protection, even if you have experience in the tropics from other regions. No guarantee can be given for the accuracy and completeness of the medical information and no liability can be accepted for any damage that may occur.

Climate | Travel Time Kenya

Kenya can be visited all year round due to its location at the equator and the mild climate that accompanies it all year round. Seasons like spring, summer, autumn and winter in the European sense do not occur. There are rather the dry season and the rainy season.

There are two rainy seasons in Kenya, the "Great Rainy Season", which lasts from early March to late May and the "Little Rainy Season", which lasts from early November to mid December. However, the beginning, duration and characteristics of the rainy seasons can vary greatly from year to year and can therefore only be predicted to a certain extent. Even during the rainy season Kenya is a suitable destination for travel. Rainy season does not usually mean that it rains for days. Mostly showers occur in the afternoon and in the evening season/night. The length of the rainfall usually ends as suddenly as it began. The coast and the hinterland are more affected by the rainfall than the interior of the country.
The dry season in Kenya lasts from about mid-December to early March and from early June to late October. These months are particularly suitable for both beach and safari holidays. On the one hand, they have the highest temperatures, on the other hand, the animals rarely move far away from the remaining waterholes due to the lack of water, which increases the chances of seeing animals.

The large annual migration of wildebeest and zebra herds

The "wildebeest and zebra migration" is not only one of the most spectacular safari experiences but also the largest migration of mammals in the world. Every year millions of wildebeest, zebras, Thomson's gazelles and eland migrate through the Maasai Mara and the plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania. The herds of animals have to cross the border river of the two reserves, the Mara River. To experience the so-called "river-crossing" once live is a life dream for many visitors. Daringly the wildebeests and zebras jump over partly steep banks into the river, with crocodiles lurking for their chance. It takes a lot of patience and more than a little luck to experience the river crossing live. If I am lucky, this is an unforgettable experience. Your driver-guide will do his best to show you this unique natural spectacle.
In addition, the large number of animals on the hike attracts a corresponding number of predators.

The time of the hike depends on the annual rainfall and can be subject to great fluctuations. The best chances to experience the great migration in the Maasai Mara are in the months July to September/October. For all other months of travel we recommend a stay in the Tanzanian Serengeti to experience the spectacle live.
