Arrival at the airport and welcome by our local agency. Transfer to the hotel directly at the Nairobi National Park, where you can relax from your flight.  .

Overnight stay: 1-night Ole-Sereni Hotel including breakfast

Day 2: Nairobi - Flight to Meru National Park

In the morning transfer to Wilson Airport and fly to Meru National Park, which is located east of Mount Kenya at the foot of the over 2500 meter high Nyambeni Hills. Welcome to the airstrip and transfer to your accommodation.

The national park is considered an insider tip among the most beautiful protected areas in Kenya. A varied landscape awaits you, which offers a home to a great variety of species. There are 13 permanent rivers, whose banks are partly palm-lined and are important lifelines in the otherwise dry landscape. It is above all the originality of the national park that exerts a very special charm.
In Meru National Park, the wildlife of the north and the south of Kenya overlap. The national park is the southern border of the distribution area of the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, or Somali ostrich and at the same time the northern border for the Congooni hartebeest or the tiny Kirk dik-diks. The park is also home to white rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and about 300 bird species.

Day 5: Meru National Park - Flight to Samburu

Today you fly from Meru National Park to Samburu. Upon arrival in Samburu, you will be welcomed and driven to the camp by a driver from Elephant Bedroom Camp and then start your first guided game drive in the National Reserve
The Samburu region is a real treasure among the protected areas of Northern Kenya. The three National Reserves Samburu, Buffalo Springs, and Shaba are located north of Mount Kenya and form an ecological unit. During the dry season, many animals tumble along the Usao Nyiro River, which is the lifeline of these dry areas. The landscape is characterized by partly volcanic hills and is one of the most impressive landscapes in Kenya.
Here you will find lions, cheetahs, leopards, oryx antelopes, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species as well as the Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, the oryx antelope, or the Somali ostrich, which can only be found in Northern Kenya. There are also huge herds of elephants to observe.
During your stay at the Elephant Bedroom Camp, the team of staff will take care of your well-being. In the center of attention are game drives, also hiking tours are offered.

Overnight: 3 nights Elephant Bedroom Camp including full board, local drinks, and safari activities

Day 6 - Day 7: Samburu National Reserve

These two days are at your disposal for extensive explorations of the Samburu National Game Reserve. Join experienced safari guides on game drives or bush walks through the home of the rare reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, and oryx, enjoy a bush breakfast in unique surroundings, or visit a traditional African village.

Day 8: Samburu - Charter flight to Lewa Conservancy

With the private charter airplane, it goes today into the Laikipia region to the Lewa safari camp in the private Lewa protected area.
The private Lewa Game Reserve offers an "Out of Africa" feeling per excellence. Wide plains, gently rolling hills, picturesque umbrella acacias, and in the background the mighty Mt. Kenya.
The reserve was established in the 1970s to protect the black rhino and is therefore well known for its large population of rhinos. But also lions, leopards, and jackals as well as oryxes, eland antelopes, gerenuk gazelles (giraffe gazelles), and many other animals are at home here. Altogether one counts more than 400 bird-types and 70 different mammals.
Just because only a few tourists visit this park and there are still the Big Five here, Lewa is still a real insider tip for wildlife watching.
After your arrival, you can do the first explorations in the afternoon in the animal-rich reserve.

Overnight: 3 nights Lewa Safari Camp including full board, local drinks, and safari activities

Entry requirements Kenya

To enter Kenya, German and Luxembourg tourists require a visa and a passport valid for at least six months beyond their stay. The visa fee is USD 51, children under 16 years do not need a visa if they are accompanied by their parents. For trips that involve departure and re-entry into Kenya, a "multi-entry" visa is required.
A return or onward ticket is required.

Visas can be applied for at the Kenyan embassies and since 01.07.2015 also online. In addition, visas will continue to be issued at the official border stations, e.g. at the airports Nairobi and Mombasa.

A valid yellow fever vaccination carried out by a certified yellow fever vaccination center is required for all travelers older than 1 year when entering Kenya from a yellow fever area.

Entry requirements may change at short notice without prior notice. Legally binding information and/or information on entry requirements beyond this information can only be obtained directly from the embassy or one of the consulates general of your destination country.

Medical preparation Kenya

Especially the coastal areas of Kenya as well as the area around Lake Victoria in the west of the country have a high risk of malaria. In the capital Nairobi and the provinces Central, Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Western, which are located at more than 2,500 m, the risk of contracting malaria is relatively low. A malaria prophylaxis is recommended in any case and independent of the region visited. Besides the usual basic immunization (tetanus, diphtheria, polio), hepatitis A and typhoid fever are recommended as travel vaccinations.
A valid vaccination against yellow fever, carried out by a certified yellow fever vaccination centre, is required for all travellers older than 1 year when entering the country from a yellow fever region. A booster after 10 years is no longer required by the Kenyan authorities. When entering Kenya from non-yellow fever areas (e.g. from Europe) or a transit time of less than 12 hours at the airport of a yellow fever endemic area (e.g. Ethiopia) the proof of vaccination is not mandatory, but recommended for travel in the country.

Before traveling, seek personal advice from a tropical medicine clinic/travelling health professional and adjust your vaccination protection, even if you have experience in the tropics from other regions. No guarantee can be given for the accuracy and completeness of the medical information and no liability can be accepted for any damage that may occur.

Climate | Travel Time Kenya

Kenya can be visited all year round due to its location at the equator and the mild climate that accompanies it all year round. Seasons like spring, summer, autumn, and winter in the European sense do not occur. There are rather the dry season and the rainy season.

There are two rainy seasons in Kenya, the "Great Rainy Season", which lasts from the beginning of March until the end of May, and the "Little Rainy Season", which lasts from the beginning of November until the middle of December. However, the beginning, duration, and characteristics of the rainy seasons can vary greatly from year to year and can therefore only be predicted to a certain degree. Even in the rainy season, Kenya is a good destination. The rainy season usually does not mean that it rains for days. Mostly the showers occur in the afternoon and in the evening time/night. The length of rainfall usually ends as suddenly as it began. The coast and the hinterland are more affected by the rainfall than the interior of the country.
The dry season in Kenya is from about mid-December to early March and from early June to late October. These months are particularly suitable for both beach and safari vacations. On the one hand, they have the highest temperatures, on the other hand, the animals rarely move far away from the remaining waterholes due to the lack of water, which increases the chances to observe animals.
